The International Centre for Human Rights (ICHR) – Canada strongly condemns the reported mass killing of Afghan migrants on the Afghanistan-Iran border. This heinous Act committed by the criminal regime in Iran, which occurred on October 14-15 in Sistan province’s Sarbaz district, resulted in the deaths and injuries of dozens of Afghan migrants who had entered Iran illegally.

We urge the United Nations to launch a comprehensive and transparent investigation into this alleged atrocity, ensuring accountability for those responsible. The rights of migrants, refugees, and asylum-seekers are safeguarded by international law, and it is imperative that these protections are upheld.

Key Demands:

•  Immediate Investigation: The UN must investigate this incident, gathering evidence and testimony from witnesses.

•  Accountability: Those responsible for the killings must be held accountable through prosecution and punishment.

•  Protection of Migrant Rights: Iran and Pakistan must respect and protect the rights of Afghan migrants, refugees, and asylum-seekers.

•  International Cooperation: The global community must work together to address the root causes of migration and provide humanitarian support.

Both Iran and Pakistan are home to millions of Afghan migrants, and all three countries are run by terrorist regimes and all have clamped down hard on refugees inside their borders.

The ICHR-Canada emphasizes that Iran’s denial of the incident is unacceptable and underscores the need for an independent investigation. Afghanistan’s Taliban-run administration must also confirm the attacks and collaborate with international authorities to bring justice to the victims.

We call upon the international community to:

•  Support the UN investigation

•  Demand accountability from the criminal regime in Iran and Pakistan

•  Provide humanitarian aid to affected migrants

•  Advocate for migrant rights and protections

The ICHR-Canada stands in solidarity with the victims and their families, demanding justice and protection for all migrants.
