Manouchehr Bakhtiari

Manouchehr Bakhtiari, father of Poya Bakhtiari was chosen as the winner of the 2023 award, for his continued fight for human rights and against terrorism.

According to the opinion of the judging committee at the International Center for Human Rights in Canada, which works to protect human rights in Iran and Iran’s neighboring countries, this year Manouchehr Bakhtiari, father of Poya Bakhtiari is chosen as the winner of the 2023 award.

The award was presented at the ICHR’s Award Event held December 5th on Parliament Hill, Ottawa, in the presence of many human rights and political activists, and members of Parliament.

After the award ceremony, there was discussion about the situation in Iran, neighbouring countries, including the involvement of IRGC and the criminal regime of Islamic Republic in the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7th, and the conditions for transitioning from repression and crime to a free society.

MP Melissa Lantsman, Kevin Voung, B’nai Brith, Ardeshir Zarezadeh, Merhzad Zarei, spoke at the event, and have been the voice of people in Iran and neighbouring countries under brutal tyranny of the terrorist ideology.

“Manouchehr Bakhtiari though imprisoned under brutality in human conditions, while all his family members are being tortured, harassed, and detained, plays an important role in enlightening and raising awareness about the situation of human rights violations and has been able to be the spokesperson of the Iranian society by risking her life and given spirit and motivation to all freedom fighters and human rights defenders.” Said; Ardeshire Zarezadeh executive director of ICHR.

MP Melissa Lantsman Said; “ we stand together with the Persian community against tyranny of terrorism, and I promise if this governments (liberals) won’t take any action the next government (conservatives) will promise to do so.”

ICHR condemns the unjust and harsh sentence to execute the imprisoned protesters, and calls the brave protesters the strong voice for rule of law and justice in Iran.

Imprisoning and sentencing protesters to death penalty for asking for their basic human rights is an obvious fact that the judiciary system is corrupted and is under the strain of the regime, and a tactic to ensured that they stay in power.

“Attacks on civilians and Israel by Hamas terrorists are in no way acceptable.   International law forbids such attacks.   Thousands have been killed, injured, or taken hostage. This is a war crime committed against Israel by Hamas and IRGC.   The West must sever ties with the dictatorial Iranian regime to support peace and freedom in Iran & region, and to combat Hamas & Hezbollah.  Meanwhile, Israel must exercise caution in its retaliation to avoid civilian casualties.” Added: Ardeshire Zarezadeh executive director of ICHR.

ICHR will continue fighting for human rights, refugee rights, as well as standing with protesters, political prisoners and human rights activists in Iran, Middle East and neighbouring countries.

We also strongly call on governments, freedom fighters, human right activists, political parties worldwide, European union, and the United Nations for effective serous united action against the terrorist criminal regime of Islamic Republic as well as IRGC for Liberty in Iran and worldwide peace.
