ICHR welcomes Ukraine’s position on the intentional shooting down of Flight PS752. The Jan. 8, 2020 attack killed 176 Passengers, including 55 Canadian citizens, 30 permanent residents and 53 others who were travelling to Canada.

Oleksiy Danilov, head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council said he believes “Iran’s government intentionally shot down an airliner full of passengers early last year, possibly with the intent of ending a cycle of military escalation with the United States.”

The government of Canada still has not taken any serious steps in pursuit of justice and the Iranian regime has not been held to account. “Not even after Iran’s final report which is clearly intended to cover up the truth behind the shooting, and mislead the world.” Said Ardeshir Zarezadeh, ICHR Director.

“ICHR is grateful, and stands in solidarity with the Ukraine position. From the moment this devastating criminal action took place, at the moment of take-off, all the reports pointed to the action being intentional.” Said Daryanaz Shirinkam, Communication Director at ICHR.

Today over 15 months has passed since this horrifying, inhumane action by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) at the behest of the supreme leader Khamenei, and still the victims have received no justice and no one has been held accountable.

“So far all the remarks of Foreign Affairs Minister Mark Garneau, Transport Minister Omar Alghabra, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as well as reports published by the Canadian government are still asking Iranian regime to be transparent in their reports even though the Iranian regime has already published its final report.” added Ardeshir Zarezadeh, ICHR Director.

“The reluctance to take serious, firm action by Canada is sending a clear message that the Canadian government does not want to take serious steps for 55 Canadian citizens who were murdered by order of the Iranian regime.” added Ardeshir Zarezadeh, ICHR Director.

ICHR strongly urges the government of Canada to take the Ukrainian position on the mater into consideration before releasing their report in coming days, and take firm action seeking justice and transparency, and condemn the regime for the murder of the passengers of Flight PS752.

“Canada must stand for justice and establish an independent legal team in Canada for Flight PS752 immediately, instead of their poor response to the final report on the TSB and at the State Department.” said Shahin Moghaddam, and Mehrzad Zare.

Canada should list the IRGC as a terrorist group, and sanction Iranian government officials. It is time for the Canadian government to open criminal cases as soon as possible and refrain from being indifferent.” added Shahin Moghaddam, and Mehrzad Zare.

ICHR calls on the Government of Canada to take serious action to bring justice to the families of the victims and to condemn the Government of Iran in practice, by taking the case to the International Criminal Court of Justice and the UN security council, and to refrain from political games.
