ICHR strongly condemns the Supreme Court’s approval of Ruhollah Zam’s death sentence, and we demand from the Islamic Republic government to revoke the execution sentence, to release Ruhollah and all political prisoners immediately and unconditionally.
As the International Human Rights Day approaches the Government of Islamic Republic of Iran increases executions of civilians, activists, lawyers, all dissents with purpose of creating panic in society. Despite all the calls and urges from the United Nations, and human right organizations around the world, is extremely alarming.
This outrageous increase of Death Sentence is another confirmation of the systematic violation of human rights by the Islamic Republic of Iran. And Immediate Urgent action by the United Nations is needed, including by the European Union, to get the authorities overturning the use of this cruel sentence.
The Supreme Court’s approval of the death sentence of Ruhollah Zam, the Media Activist Who Helped Inspire 2017 Protests, and political dissident, by the Supreme Court is a tactical decision by the Government to increasingly use the death penalty as a weapon of repression.
We must stand up against the inhuman treatment of the Islamic Republic government towards Ruhollah Zam, all political prisoners, and the people of Iran.
ICHR strongly opposes the death penalty in all cases without exception regardless of the nature of the crime, the characteristics of the offender, or the method used by the state to kill the prisoner. The death penalty is a violation of the right to life and the ultimate cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment.
“Thanking a life is taking a life nothing can justify it, not even when we call it capital punishment, “nothing “ absolutely nothing.” Said; Ardeshire Zarezadeh, Executive Director for ICHR Canada.
ICHR Strongly Calls On International Community to take serious action and strongly demand from the government of Iran to stop executing protesters, and revoke the death sentence for Ruhollah Zam, Ahmadreza Djalali, and all political prisoners under death row, as well as releasing them immediately and unconditionally.
Also We Firmly Demand from the members of the UN to immediately take more serious actions to condemn the government of Iran in the international court of justice for all their crimes against humanity and all their terrorism activities.
