ICHR condemns the supreme leader for the illegal imprisonments of the human rights advocates, and must Stop the Persecution or illegal prosecution of Lawyers. We strongly call on Islamic Republic government to Release Nasrin Sotoudeh immediately without conditions.

Government of Iran must immediately and unconditionally release all defence attorneys that are imprisoned under false charges due to standing up for rights, and take firm actions to restore respect for the independence of the legal profession in Iran by abiding the International laws.

The international human rights laws require governments to ensure that lawyers are able to carry out their functions without intimidation, and harassment.

Instead of abiding by the international human right laws the state is greatly increasing the policies that discriminates and violates the human rights of people specially the rights of advocates to practice without suppression of anti-rights policies.

Sotoudeh is among at least hundreds of attorneys that have been arrested, charged with national security-related crimes, and/or banned from practicing law since 2018 only because they stood up for rights.

Nasrin Sotoudeh has dedicated her life to peacefully and professionally defending human rights, particularly the rights of the vulnerable in society – as UN Experts has stated, “The evidence suggests Ms Sotoudeh’s imprisonment, both now and in the past, is State retaliation for her tireless work defending human rights.”

ICHR strongly urges the UN to take firm actions to secure the release of  Nasrin Sotoudeh immediately and unconditionally, an action that will help to restore respect for the independence of the legal profession in Iran.

ICHR also strongly calls on Iran’s government to abide the international human rights laws that require to ensure that lawyers are able to carry out their functions without intimidation, and harassment. That been said they must immediately and unconditionally release all human right lawyers.
