ICHR Strongly condemns the government of Iran for Taking forced confessions from activists and creating false charges against them. All these manufactured cases must be stopped immediately, and free all political prisoners.

Sepideh Qalyan will be tried again on the complaint of the journalist Ameneh Sadat Zabihpour!

Ms. Qalyan, is a political prisoner detained in Evin Prison recently in Branch-24 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, and will be tried by the complaint of “Ameneh Sadat Zabihpour”, an IRIB reporter who in recent years has played the role of an interrogator for forced confessions on IRIB.

Sepideh Qalyan made a lawsuit against Ameneh Sadat Zabihpour for her role in producing and broadcasting forced confessions on Iranian television.

Few hours after the case was filed, the complaint was closed, and instead new cases was opened for Ms. Qalyan for the complaint of Ameneh Sadat Zabihpour.

Keep in mind that; Zabihpour has also received  forced confessions from the detainees of the labor protests in Khuzestan, Sepideh Qalyan, Ismail Bakhshi and several others, after hours of mental and physical torture on Iranian television.

“Taking forced confessions from activists and creating false charges by the government officials is the policy of the Islamic Republic to suppress society.  All these manufactured cases must be stopped immediately.” Said; Ardeshire Zarezadeh, Executive Director for ICHR Canada.

ICHR strongly calls on the Iranian authorities to immediately stop Torture, and other Cruel Inhuman Degrading Treatments or Punishments, and we demand Sepideh Qalyan’s case to get revoked and the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners.
