ICHR has been honouring World Humanitarian Day with the Mission of raising awareness, and helping refugees and the camps with the hope to end the refugee crisis.
With that in mind as the World Humanitarian Day approaches ICHR strongly calls on the international community for long-term solutions, to support and help Anwar Nillufary, and all refugees.
The situation of thousands of refugees and asylum seekers around the world is at critical point. Many like Anwar Nillufary, the Iranian recognized refugee, and a beneficiary of international protection, in Greece who has been on hunger strike in front of the UNHCR building in Athens for more than 50 days in order to have his case heard, after six years of uncertainty.
The lack of electricity, water, and humanitarian assistance at displacement camps specially during the Covid_19 pandemic is taking its toll on the refugees as their living conditions are deteriorating, particularly during coronavirus challenges.
On top of all the hardships that the refugees and asylum seeker are facing while being unable to go back the should not leave in dark fear of uncertainty.
Anwar Nillufary’s life is in danger and he is at the point that he can not stand or talk without getting exhausted, or fainted. His physical state is extremely critical, to the point that Anwar said; “ At this moment it’s really hard to imagine myself surviving for two more weeks.”
On that note; ICHR strongly calls on the democratic countries specially Canada, U.S, Australia and Europe for long-term solutions, to support and helpAnwar Nillufary, the Iranian recognized refugee, and a beneficiary of international protection, in Greece who has been on hunger strike to have his case heard after six years of uncertainty.
ICHR strongly calls on the Canadian government to step up to rescueAnwar Nillufary from the six years of uncertainty that has pushed him to a hunger strike that’s putting his life in danger, and bring him to Canada so he can have a chance at a life where he can have hope rather than the dark fear of uncertainty.
Refugees can not go back home, we have to help them start their life’s over.
“Our country has always reached out to help the people around the globe that needed it, and today the people of Iran and the neighbouring countries need our help.” Added; Ardeshire Zarezadeh, Executive Director at ICHR Canada.
ICHR also strongly urges the Canadian government to step up to rescue the vulnerable refugees whom has received status by UNHCR, and honour the LGBT refugee program to bring LGBT+ asylum-seekers to Canada from countries where they are in danger including Iran and its neighboring countries.
We all should take part to END Refugee Crisis worldwide, Every Action Counts.
