ICHR strongly condemns the government of Iran for detaining Mehraveh Khandan, the 20yrs old daughter of Nasrin Sotoudeh, and she must be released immediately and unconditionally as she has not committed any crime. Releasing her temporarily on bail is absolutely unacceptable.

Mehraveh Khandan, daughter of Nasrin Sotoudeh was arrested and temporarily released on bail as an tactical and systemic intimidation tool to threaten the families of political prisoners.

Either to get false confessions, or prevent them from speaking up, the way the government of Iran increases its human rights violations is confirming how incredibly dangerous they are even to the rest of the world with these dictatorship terrorist policies that they are imputing into the country and world.

Mehraveh Khandan was arrested at home this morning by security agents and transferred to the Evin courthouse, and she was released temporarily on bail.

Because the arrest of Mehraveh Khandan, continues the government’s policy of putting pressure on the families of political prisoners.

Simultaneously with the continuation of Nasrin Sotoudeh’s hunger strike to free political prisoners in duration of Covid_19, this afternoon, Monday, August 18, the repressive forces of the Islamic Republic arrested her daughter Mehraveh Khandan and transferred her to the Evin Security Court without giving any explanation.

According to the reports published, and Reza Khandan’s video on social media, five government repression agents went to Sotoudeh’s house, and took Mehraveh Khandan to the Evin Security Court without any explanation.

“Such a brutal approach of the Islamic Republic in detaining political activists and exerting all kinds of pressure and harassment on the families of political prisoners is strongly condemned and should be protested.” Said; Ardeshire Zarezadeh, Executive Director at ICHR Canada.

“Nasrin Sotoudeh, her daughter and all political prisoners have not committed any crime by practice of their human right to protest, to the minimum international judicial standards and must be released immediately and unconditionally.” Added; Ardeshire Zarezadeh, Executive Director at ICHR Canada.

Nasrin Sotoudeh was arrested, and sentenced to 33 years in prison and 148 lashes, of which 12 years of it must be served, on charges such as “collusion against national security”, “spreading lies”, “disturbing public opinion” and “insulting government officials”.

When all she has done is to protest to defend the innocent, she has always even from behind bars stand up for better Iran, Democrat and free, The kinda Iran that freedoms of expression is not a death sentence, or children are not sold in name of marriage or girls are not killed for love, the kinda Iran that the government is not a dictator terrorizing inhuman killing machine.

And today from behind bars as she is fighting for the well being of the prisoners in over crowded jails of the country during the Covid_19 pandemics. She has to watch her family being persecuted and harassed by the government, to scare her off.

Today a mother had watch her 20 yrs old daughter being detained and taken from her home for absolutely nothing, without court order without reason or and legal grounds.

Government of Iran must answer for their crimes against humanity people of Iran, and the country.
