ICHR strongly condemns the government of Iran for harassing, prosecuting and sentencing the protesters of the protests over the downing of the Ukrainian plane Flight-752 by Iran’s revolutionary guards(IRGC).

The government officials of Iran have been prosecuting and sentencing the protesters over the shooting of the Ukrainian plane by IRGC. Also have sent out notices to the protesters to appear for sentencing and being convicted to jail time. As if it was not enough that they shoot down the plane with 176 life’s on board.

According to the Islamic Republic Court, Mohsen Rezaei, Meysam Khalili, Shura Fekri, and Salman Fakhri were individually sentenced to six months in prison for participating in protests over the downing of Ukrainian plane byIRGC.

In a court in Mashhad, Masoud Hekmabadi, a theatre artist, was sentenced to three years in prison also for practicing his right to protest.

Bahareh Hedayat, was also arrested in front of Amirkabir University in protests over the Ukrainian plane downing and was sentenced in Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court to four years in prison, and eight months for propaganda against the regime.

“This has become a trend for the government of Iran to unlawfully prosecute, sentence, and kill protesters. The UN must take immediate firm actions to end the streak of the systematic human right violations against peoples of Iran and hold the responsible parties accountable.” Said; Daryanaz Shirinkam, Communication Director at ICHR Canada.

The government of Iran has Zero value for the people’s life, they use torture, kill people for simply practicing their rights, unlawfully convicts the incident to jail and death sentences.

At the time of pandemic that the country is suffering significantly from it, specially in the over crowded jails. The government officials are sentencing the not guilty of any crime civilians for protesting and demanding an answer for the shooting of the Ukrainian plane, to jails that coronavirus has overcome, and puts their life’s in danger.

ICHR strongly calls on the government of Iran to immediately and unconditionally release all political prisoners, and to stop persecuting, prosecuting, torturing and sentencing the protesters to jail time and death sentences.

“Torture and death penalty are human right violations at the highest level of inhumanity, and the government of Iran is using both as a strategic plan to stay in power of dictatorship.” Said Ardeshire Zarezadeh, Executive Director for ICHR Canada.

ICHR strongly calls on the international community to come up with a firm plan to stop government of Iran from their outrageously inhuman persecutions against the people and protesters in the country, and Actions must be taken to hold the responsible parties accountable.

“The people of Iran matter, their rights matter, all lives matter, but for some reason the world is ignoring what’s happening in Iran by the hands of the government, and that’s just not accountable.” Added; Daryanaz Shirinkam, Communication Director at ICHR Canada.
