ICHR strongly condemns the government of Iran for sentencing Saba KordAfshari to begin with, and Calls on the Iranian government to release Saba_KordAfshari immediately and unconditionally. As protesting against forced_hijab and defending women rights is not a crime.
Saba Kordafeshari has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for protesting against discriminatory hijab laws.
But Saba’s sentence was reduced from 24yrs in prison, because she was acquitted on charges of spreading corruption and prostitution, but in her recent court hearing with the IRGC’s complaint and insistence, Saba was again convicted of corruption and prostitution.
For this reason, Saba’s 24-year prison sentence has been upheld once again, in which case 15 years must be served.
”The government of Iran must end Criminalizing women for not choosing a veil, they must end their extreme form of gender_discrimination and all type of cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment that profoundly damages women’s human dignity.” Said Ardeshire Zarezadeh, Executive Director for Iran, and The Middle East at #ICHR Canada.
