On October 30th, 2019 Ismail Bakhshi was released from prison on bail, and that’s not enough. The government of Iran must release him unconditionally.

The International Center for Human Rights (ICHR) strongly calls on the Iranian government to drop all the alleged charges against Ismail Bakhshi, and release him unconditionally. Not under condition of bail, defending civil rights is not a crime and the Iranian government must respect international human rights law.

As we celebrate Ismail Bakhshi’s release on bail conditions we must keep in mind that he is innocent of the charges against him and he has done no crime. Speaking up and practicing his write to defend civil rights is not a crime, and today he should be truly free not on bail condition worrying about going back to prison.

Ismail Bakhshi is a representative of the prisoner of sugar cane sugar workers, whom has been arrested in connection with the protests of the Haftepeh sugar cane workers.

Ismail Bakhshi was arrested after the disclosure of their torture in the Ahvaz Detention Center in late December.
