ICHRCanada strongly demands immediate and unconditional release of Keshavarz from the government of Iran, and they must abolish all bogus charges against her as well.
Mozhgan Kesharvarz is one of the woman who was active in white Wednesdays campaign , protesting against compulsory hijab.
During the time Shaparak “ another protester against compulsory hijab “ was in jail , she spread her voice In buses and other public transportations, talking about Shaparak and her arrest. Which led to her getting fired afterwards when the security office in her work recognized her in videos of her on social media.
Mozhgan Keshavarz also toke action in helping women whom were victims of acid attacks. She starterd writing about them and what they had been through, and asking the authorities to pot and end to this horrifying act and hold those responsible accountable.
She also started going to deprived regions to filming the women that were in distress and being abused. Her goal was to make a documentary of Iranian strong underprivileged women, and bring awareness towards them.
Keshavarz has always been people’s voice, she also continued protesting against compulsory hijab, and videotaping their peaceful protest and sharing to raise more awareness and to stand up for women’s rights.
The video of her and her friends Monire Arabshahi and her daughter Yasaman Aryani got viral on March 8th International women’s day. As they where hugging and handing flowers to women in Tehran metro and wishing for a day that women can choose how to dress.
During New year holiday , when the floods destroyed half of the country she went to Golestan province to help the people in distress.
After she got back from Golestan she was arrested in her home in front of her 9 years old daughter, as if that wasn’t enough they have frozen all her accounts.
“This is completely outrageous that the government of Iran is attacking, harassing, and imprisoning whom ever that opposes the state’s politics. This must end now and the Iranian authorities must abide by the international law, and respect freedom of expression, and speech.” Said Ardeshir Zarezadeh, Executive Director for Iran, and The Middle East at ICHR Canada.
