ICHR Strongly apposes this ruling and firmly Calls on government of Iran to drop all the bogus charges they have made up against her and release her immediately and unconditionally.

Imprisoned Iranian human rights lawyer and defender Nasrin Sotoudeh‘s 33-year jail sentence is final, and she must serve 12 years, and 74 lashes are enforcible.

Sotoudeh who was arrested in mid-2018, was sentenced in early March to 33 years in prison and 148 lashes. She was subjected to two trials that was outrageously unfair.

The charges brought against her were mainly related to her work defending opponents of forced hijab and her opposition to the death penalty, but the government added national security related accusations to reach the heavy sentence.

The European Parliament, France, the United States, international rights organizations have and people worldwide all voiced to support Sotoudeh and have demanded here immediate release.

“ICHR Strongly apposes this ruling and firmly Calls on government of Iran to drop all the bogus charges they have made up against her and release her immediately and unconditionally. This senseless suppression from government of Iran towards whom ever that opposes the states politics or calls out their human rights violations, must stop once and for all.” Said Ardeshir Zarezadeh, Executive Director for Iran, and The Middle East at ICHR Canada.
