ICHR strongly demands the government of Iran to free Rezvaneh Mohammadi immediately and unconditionally, asking to legalize and normalize homosexual relations is not a crime.

“Making-up fake charges against a Peaceful advocate whom wants to normalize homosexual relations is a crime and violation of human rights” Said  Ardeshir Zarezadeh, Advocacy Director for Iran, and The Middle East at ICHR Canada.

Rezvaneh Mohammadi was arrested by agents of Iran’s Intelligence Ministry in early September 2018, and she was held until October 20, including 26 days in solitary confinement.

From the time of her arrest until her last day in solitary confinement in Ward 209 in Evin Prison, the agents and her interrogator cursed at her and insulted her and she was even threatened with rape. One of the interrogators told her they would build a case against her like no other in the past, which is probably why she was accused of these unusual charges.

After all this Rezvaneh was trialled on February 17, 2019, at Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran which she was denied attendance at the trial, and her lawyer was as well denied attendance. all under the most unusual charge of assembly and collusion against national security by seeking to normalize homosexual relations.

Iran’s Government is really advancing on breaking laws of human rights and silencing all political, and Conscience, human rights defenders, and lawyers, as well as labour rights activists by arresting, prosecuting,  torturing, assembling fake trials and  imprisoning them.

ICHR strongly demands the government of Iran to free Rezvaneh Mohammadi immediately and unconditionally, asking to legalize and normalize homosexual relations is not a crime.
